Southside Christian School is currently seeking a qualified and experienced teacher to teach 2nd grade.
Salary range is determined by years of teaching experience starting at $35,000 plus benefits (dependent/grandchild tuition credit, medical, retirement, etc).
We are a Christ-centered school that partners with families to provide a rigorous academic experience in a nurturing environment, equipping each student to embrace God’s unique plan for life.
Southside Christian School was initially established as a preschool in 1994 and has since grown into a thriving preschool-8th grade body numbering over 220 students.
We are a missional school, serving students (and their families) from all faith backgrounds, including those who are not yet believers.
We unapologetically provide a Bible-based, rigorous, educational experience.
In 2015, SCS added a special education program, expanding the diversity of our student body.
It is the only special education program available at a Christian school in the Spokane region.
SCS is seeking a teacher who is a follower of Jesus Christ, a strong servant-leader and has a passion for Christian education.

It fits reality and provides intellectually defensible answers.
Children must be helped to develop habits of obedience, discipline, consideration, concentration, and self-control.
Children must be provided a rich, broad curriculum.
There are certain ideas, events, and facts that every child should know.
The curriculum must be carefully planned to provide the best in ideas, culture, literature, writing, math, science, and history.
Children must be allowed to learn at a level and speed appropriate to the individual who is progressing at his own rate of development.
High standards are expected to be met, but always at a level appropriate to the child’s ability.
Children must be given opportunities and instruction to develop appreciation of and abilities in areas such as art, music, and language.
We desire that the child come to understand and enjoy areas of the curriculum.
This requires a process of personal involvement in learning, the use of appropriate sources, and an opportunity for the child to demonstrate or put into practice what he/she has learned.
Responsibilities: The teachers will be responsible for their own students and for the smooth functioning of their individual classrooms.
All classroom responsibilities are carried out in light of the Mission and Philosophy of Southside Christian School.
Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students by following the guidelines in the Southside Christian School Employee Handbook.
Lead children through planned daily activity utilizing the approved school curriculum in all school subjects.
Maintain the structure and discipline in the classroom, effectively using the principles of Love and Logic.
Arrive at school in a timely fashion to allow for room set-up and greeting of families as they arrive at school.
Foster the development of a servant's heart, which is reflected in communications with parents, students, and colleagues.
Utilize Biblical principles when resolving conflict.
(Matthew 18:15-17) Complete progress reports and grades as scheduled.
Keep administration informed of student progress and concerns.
Attend staff meetings and be an active, supportive member of the school's community.
Teachers must attend school functions and abide by all school policies.
School workdays will be established according to the school's calendar.
Additional work days may be scheduled, as the administration deems necessary.
Maintain an up-to-date class list including emergency information.
Develop classroom/home communication (newsletter, emails) and provide a copy to the administration.
Perform daily routine cleaning maintenance as discussed with administration.
Purchase individual classroom supplies as needed.
Provide input to the administration regarding purchase of school supplies.
Coordinate field trips with the administration.
Arrangements may be the teacher's responsibility as designated by the administration.
In the event of a scheduled absence, teachers are responsible for contacting a substitute teacher from the school’s substitute list.
If the absence is an emergency, the administration will find the substitute.
Model positive Christian conduct and progressive spiritual growth through individual Bible study and involvement in worship.
