Hello.
Here is a SUPER HEAVY DUTY, metal, not wood gunstock checkering/refinishing/work cradle.
My father was a Master Machinist and Gunsmith.
He handbuilt this cradle from heavy duty metal parts.
All the machining and welding, he did.
Built in the early 1960's, he used it very little as cancer took him 7 years later in 1972.
I have only used it once to hold a stock for refinishing.
1/4" X 1/1/2" X 4' angle iron supplies the major base.
With the buttstock sliding holder, this cradle is adjustable for many different lengths/types of stock work.
Quite heavy, but very stable.
Upright "spud" holds it all in place and can "tilt" 90 degrees forward and back from vertical.
Main baseplate (pic #9) that is screwed to my reloading bench is NOT available, just pictured to show how I mounted it.
ALSO, 7 DEM-BART VINTAGE checkering tools and his homemade stock inletting rasps.
Again, these have not been used since the 1960's.
He sportorized Springfield 03-A3's for all family members and did all the gun work.
I remember
about 6-7 new stocks he completed out of blanks.
Large family and tough times, so he improvised.
Handmade, one of a kind that won't break down.
Time to move on as I have had these since his passing.
I hope someone can put them to good use, not just cut them up for the angle iron.
Cash please, no trades or seperation of items.
You won't be disappointed.
Thanks, John
