SUMMARY:
Performs various maintenance tasks to maintain the golf course and casino grounds.
The Groundskeeper/Equipment Operator may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of the golf course, casino grounds, maintenance facility, and various machinery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize mowing equipment to maintain all areas of the golf course, including greens, tees, fairways, approaches, rough, practice facility, and supporting areas around the golf course.
Edge, rake, and maintain sand bunkers and bunker surrounds.
Set tee markers and cut cups on greens.
Remove debris from golf course areas and clean flower beds.
Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis and report equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager or assistant mechanics immediately.
Return and clean all equipment/tools to the designated location at the maintenance facility.
Keep the maintenance facility clean and organized including restrooms, desks, lockers, and other storage areas.
Mark the course for cart control weekly, move cart control barriers, replace rope and stake, replace signs, and mark hazard and drop areas as instructed.
Utilize string trimmers, back pack blowers, edger’s and other small handheld landscape equipment to maintain the golf course and casino grounds.
Assist in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways by grading and preparing soil base; laying sod; drop area divots; and sand and seed tees, greens and fairways.
Install forms and lay walks and paths using concrete mixes.
Handwater as needed to all areas of the golf course and supporting grounds.
Excavate and backfill ditches and trenches with hand tools.
Repair and replace pipe on irrigation systems.
Assist in the training of new team members as assigned.
Maintain all areas of Casino landscape beds and lawns.
Other projects and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Must have reliable transportation and good attendance.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Six months previous grounds keeping experience preferred.
Previous experience operating handheld and ride on power equipment used for golf course maintenance preferred.
Must be 16 years of age or older.
Skills/Knowledge:
Basic mechanical skills required.
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance required.
Ability to work well in a team environment required.
Good verbal communication skills required.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions required.
