Job Summary This opportunity is ideal for technical managers with a breadth of experience in an electronics and raw material conversion manufacturing environment, and a strong passion for collaboratively leading and managing cross-functional teams to commercialize innovation.
In this role, you will have overall responsibility to ensure manufacturing engineering resources, processes, tools and equipment are in place to support operational objectives.
Primary Responsibilities Provides technical and personnel leadership and management for Manufacturing Engineering functions and associated processes, including Manufacturing/Test/Process Engineering, Engineering Technicians, Engineering Support Specialists and Document Control.
Recruiting and Hiring of the manufacturing engineering team, manages staff and assigns tasks to personnel, mentoring and training of individual skills and techniques Help to innovate and cultivate AIS’s roadmap of manufacturing capability to deliver differentiated value for AIS customers Works collaboratively with NPI Engineering to mature our Concurrent Product Development process and ensure manufacturing readiness of new products Apply technical oversight and guidance for DFx attributes including design-for-manufacturing, assembly, cost, testability, serviceability, & automation.
Support new business pursuits with manufacturing engineering and equipment budgetary estimates and proposals Ensures manufacturing equipment, processes, and capabilities can support production needs Identify and execute on Continuous Improvement and VAVE initiatives to improve product performance (quality, margin, throughput, etc.
) Develop, monitor and manage department budget, CER’S and related project expenses Development and maintenance of AIS’s processes, procedures, and standards Reducing production risk through process development Drive efficient Engineering Change Control processes Collaborates with on company-wide initiatives to achieve macro-plan objectives Qualifications BS Engineering with 10+ years of relevant product development and prior management experience.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience driving Organizational Change Full Product Development lifecycle experience from concept through maturity Experience applying personnel performance management techniques that result in a high-performing team and culture Automation experience (highly variable assemblies, material conversion) is extremely important · LEAN Manufacturing, Value Stream Mapping, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) · IQ, OQ, PQ and PPAP Processes · Familiarity with ISO 9001 & 13485 practices · Production Calibration and Test System Development · Statistical Process Control and Inspection techniques Ability to solve a wide range of technical/business problems & contribute creative ideas Self-starter, highly motivated, and extremely collaborative Thrives with fast pace, constant change, and managing multiple projects Previous design engineering experience (manufacturing, mechatronics, mechanical, or related) Experience with process development and training Basic understanding of cost accounting Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with customers, vendors, and the AIS team Ability to manage technical risk *Relocation available for the right candidate Advanced Input Systems, AIS, located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, is a leading design and manufacturer of Human Machine eXperience (HMX) Products and Solutions for a broad range of markets and applications.
