JobID: 1793 Position Type: Elementary School Teaching/Music - Vocal Date Posted: 8/23/2023 Location: District Wide Closing Date: Until Filled Open Date: 08/23/23 Closing Date: 9/6/23 or Until Filled Location: District Wide Pay: Under 20 hour 9 month employee WBCSD Pay Scale **No Benefits** TITLE: Elementary Music Paraprofessional QUALIFICATIONS At least two years of college-level coursework (30 semester credits) or an Associate’s Degree in education or related field Previous aide or teaching experience preferred Demonstrated knowledge of subject matter and effective teaching methods Strong background in curriculum and the Idaho Core Standards Strong background in the integration of technology with instruction Ability to maintain a positive learning environment Works well with students, staff, and the public Excellent organizational skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Able to work under deadlines Maintain confidentiality of staff and students PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO Building Principals and Music Teacher JOB SUMMARY To work under the direction of the Music Teacher or Building Principal in achieving the educational goals and objectives of all students through individual, small group, or whole group instruction.
To provide students with a daily and ongoing instructional program that will provide for them the best possible academic knowledge of music styles, techniques, and history.
To promote academic, social, and citizenship development through leadership and classroom supervision.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Instruction Prepare for assigned classes Design lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty that provide content in a logical and sequential manner Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) Implement the Idaho Core Standards, as well as the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments Display command of the subject matter Budget class time effectively Other Duties to Students Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential Establish and communicate classroom rules, and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Working with Students Maintain high academic standards and expectations Provide tutorial help to students following lessons prescribed by the teacher and reinforce material and skills using a variety of methods as directed by certified staff Provide immediate feedback on student performance to students and to the supervising teacher Respond to students’ questions and requests for assistance Observe students’ work and study habits Observe and record students’ time on task when needed Assist students in locating prescribed instructional materials and starting their assignments Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional program Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material and skills introduced by the teacher Help students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by teacher Provide individualized instruction activities using materials and sequences selected by the supervising teacher Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) Assist with such large group activities as drill and practice, reading aloud, and storytelling, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher Assist students in the library or media center Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips Administer, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students Encourage students to strive to meet their highest potential Communicate classroom rules and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior Other Classroom Assistance Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities Alert the supervising teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher Keep the supervising teacher informed of activities and any issues that may arise Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other materials for instruction Help the teacher to plan and maintain bulletin Boards and other classroom learning displays Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Help very young students with their clothing and snack time routines Other Keep accurate records and maintain individual records for each student Complete clerical duties as assigned by the supervising teacher Attend faculty meetings as required Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as reading professional journals and other publications Seek assistance should emergencies arise Represent the school district in a positive manner Know and follow school district policy and chain of command Perform other duties as assigned EVALUATION Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the building principal in conformance with district policy and IDAPA 08.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT By contract as determined by the Board of Trustees in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.
NOTE All certificated and non-certificated employees and other individuals are required to undergo a criminal history check and submit to fingerprinting.
