The Department of Corrections (DOC) Sex Offender Treatment and Assessment Programs (SOTAP) is committed to providing clients with evidence based, sex offense specific treatment to reduce recidivism and increase public safety.
As a SOTAP therapist, you will use your clinical skills to improve the lives of previously incarcerated individuals and assist them with lowering their risk.

"This recruitment could be used to fill multiple permanent or non-permanent positions" Duties Assesses client treatment needs and risk in order to provide evidence-based sex offender treatment to adult men and women (both individual and group).
Facilitates behavioral change in clients, presents client information to committees related to offender planning, risk management issues and transition.
Completes documentation to include agency approved risk assessment, initial treatment plans, group and individual progress notes and a comprehensive treatment summary for external distribution.
Additionally, some clients may require treatment summary addendums and/or additional documentation.
Meets with client support persons and outside stakeholders to educate and answer questions.
Conduct individual client sessions and facilitate group sessions.
Complete all required documentation timely and completely.
Complete STATIC-99/STABLE-2007/ACUTE-2007 risk assessments.
Make contact with and respond promptly in communication with support persons and stakeholders.
Facilitate Community Transition (CT) class at AHCC and/or TRU.
Participates in team meetings, unit meetings, trainings, and supervision.
Collaborates with Community Corrections Officers and Supervisors on mitigating risk and increasing protective factors.
Works with mental health providers, community members, and external stakeholders regarding specific sex offender risks and transition.
Attend meetings as requested.
Set up and facilitate meetings as necessary.
Travel to Quarterly SOTAP Team meetings.
Share and educate stakeholders regarding releasing offenders and their specific criminogenic needs and dynamic risks.
Work directly with guardian and victim advocates concerning the management of sex offenders.
Serve as an active member in the client transition process by identifying risks and developing supervision strategies.
Provide depositions and testimony as legally required.
Provide education, training and workshops to the Department of Corrections and external agencies.
Meet and collaborate with prison custody staff and supervising staff regarding client transition and release.
Provide testimony when requested via subpoena.
Provide educational opportunities for the Department of Corrections and external sources regarding sex offender transition and treatment.
Facilitate community transition groups in collaboration with prison custody staff, supervision staff, county Sheriffs, housing specialists and other professionals.
Coordinate and facilitate Community Transition groups as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Program Clinical Manager.

Qualifications Required qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral science, such as Psychology, Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.
S.
Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent.
AND Two (2) years of demonstrated experience providing individual or group therapy to adult or juvenile offenders, the mentally ill or sex offenders, which includes six (6) months of work experience providing mental health treatment and/or therapy specifically to groups.
NOTE: A Master's degree in a behavioral science, such as Psychology, Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.
S.
Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent, may be substituted for one (1) year of demonstrated experience providing individual or group therapy to adult or juvenile offenders, the mentally ill or sex offenders.
Additional clarification: Work experience in mental health treatment and/or therapy to "groups" is defined as, "group experience where responsibilities have included mental health treatment and/or therapy planning, mental health program implementation and/or direct delivery of client mental health services.
This work experience may also be obtained during master's degree program internships.
