Excelsior Wellness Center serves a broad and diverse base of individuals and families with the primary aim of identifying goals and making positive steps toward accomplishing them.

The Peer Support Specialist functions as an integral part of the treatment team.
They exhibit competency in personal recovery and serve as role models to service participants and their caregivers seeking emotional regulation assistance and services within their community and/or at Excelsior Wellness.
The peer partner will perform a wide range of tasks designed to assist service participants and their caregivers with navigating behavioral health services, articulating their needs, reducing barriers to access to care, and even pre-engaging families with initial intervention supports to facilitate the recovery process.
How to Qualify: Minimum High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
Minimum one year of experience working and/or volunteering directly with service participants or caregivers.
Has completed, or can complete, specialized training provided or contracted by Washington State Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery in becoming a Certified Peer Counselor.
Ability to register with the Washington State Department of Health as an agency affiliated counselor (AAC).
Ability to work with a diverse population of service participants and staff.
Ability to calmly and repetitively model appropriate behaviors in challenging situations.
Ability to work in a demanding environment and make ethical and safe decisions.
Ability to manage individual stress and perform essential job functions in a safe and professional manner.
Ability to use the senses of sight and hearing to effectively work with service participants and their caregivers.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
Must be 21 years or older.
Must have a current valid driver’s license for your state of residence.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with warm or crisis line services.
Strong documentation reporting skills Strong customer service skills Core Responsibilities Include: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities.
Serve as the main helper for youth 13-17 via phone, text and/or web chat during your work shift.
Communicate with service participants and/or their caregivers to establish relational support and rapport for those seeking emotional regulation assistance or services within their community.
Build and develop relationships with help seekers by providing compassion, sharing lived experience of recovery when appropriate, and a comforting, trusting environment in which youth can discuss the stressors in their lives.
Provide education and supportive guidance to service participants and their caregivers regarding a variety of mental health needs.
Perform daily operations through collaboration with management and department leaders, including an array of administrative tasks from generating correspondence, maintaining electronic files, and presenting clinical and technical issues with the line during staff meetings.
Serve as a subject matter expert, handling inquiries and developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communications for TTL.
