POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include performing the courier service and ensuring timely delivery of supplies, contracts and mail between cemetery and funeral locations.
Provide a professional experience and ensure a positive first impression with office staff.
Assist with funeral and cemetery services as a lead-in when needed.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

May ensure the courier vehicle is serviced on a regular basis
2\.
Deliver materials, pick up supplies and mail, and distribute to appropriate offices
3\.
Complete related paperwork such as pickup and delivery logs and mileage reports
4\.
Run errands for funeral homes and cemetery offices as needed.
5\.
Load and unload supplies for distribution
6\.
Complete necessary paperwork associated with transfers of remains between locations
7\.
Unloads deliveries of supplies from various vendors
8\.
Verifies delivery receipts as needed for incoming/outgoing deliveries
9\.
Maintain a professional appearance.

• Proper footwear; suitable to weather conditions and terrain.

Responsible for being at the cemetery a minimum of one hour in advance of the service to ensure proper graveside location, set up and unobstructed lead in route for the families.
11\.
Be at the entrance ready to greet service/event attendees no later than 30 minutes prior to service/event.
• Attentively standing outside of vehicle.
• Four-way flashers on.
12\.
Responsible for the setup and operation of sound equipment and music/video system prior to and during the service.
Coordinate with officiating person the music to be played.
13\.
Maintain contact with grounds crew personnel and family service representatives to meet any special needs/additional requests of the families, i.
e.
family request to witness lowering of casket, etc.
14\.
Responsible for collecting the burial transfer permit from the funeral director prior to the casket being accepted by the cemetery.
15\.
Reports any unsafe conditions within all cemeteries to the Grounds Superintendent.
16\.
Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• The ability to lift moderately heavy objects (i.
e.
, mail trays, bags, or containers) up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.
)
• Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch
• Exposed to various environmental conditions by driving or walking to/from car and buildings, including traffic congestion and construction, heat humidity, rain, and snow/ice
• Performs general maintenance duties as required including filling vehicle with gas and cleaning interior and exterior of vehicle.
• 75% travel between funeral homes and cemetery offices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to work both in an office setting and outdoors.
There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 25 pounds), drive a company vehicle and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
Able to work in inclement weather including rain, snow, sleet, hail, cold and hot days.
