*Position open: The Bishop’s Assistant and Communications Officer* The Bishop’s Assistant and Communications Officer is a member of the Diocesan team under the leadership of the Bishop and will report directly to the Bishop.
They are a resource to the diocesan team and in support of the diocesan mission to form, nurture, and develop disciples of Jesus Christ in strong communities of faith for the transformation of ourselves, our communities and the world.
The Bishop’s Assistant & Communications Officer serves as direct support to the Bishop and the Canon to the Ordinary, assisting in calendaring visitations and meetings, maintaining records and files, and managing the administrative planning and execution of Diocesan Convention and other diocesan events.
Our ideal candidate will develop, facilitate, and organize effective communication within the Office of the Bishop, throughout the diocese and the broader church.
A task which includes social media, website design and management, and journalistic and technical writing.
This position will bring experience in successful detail oriented systems of organization, project planning, teamwork, and creative problem solving.
Compensation is for full-time employment with full benefits.
*Responsibilities: * · Develop and maintain diocesan websites and domains, assisting and directing the transfer and design of websites to new host server · Create and distribute effective and engaging visual and written communications, via print media and digitally, including but not limited to e-mail newsletters holding to brand standards · Manage Social Media accounts: Facebook, Instagram and Youtube · Edit and post video media as needed · Collaborate in the development of diocesan communication strategies, offering industry expertise and manage and implement these strategies utilizing data gathering and analytics · Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos · Manage mailing lists and public calendars · Assist in site and vendor selection and negotiating the best possible rates and terms in coordination with the diocesan Financial Officer · Occasionally assist in publicity with local and national media, in the creation and distribution of press releases and scheduling interviews with journalists as needed · Management of Zoom accounts, coordinating Zoom meetings and events, creation of Zoom registrations · Manage scheduling for Bishop’s and Canon to the Ordinary’s visitations, meetings and if needed coordinate hotel reservations · Manage all administrative aspects of diocesan events from material preparation, pre-planning, determining resource needs, securing and negotiating vendors and managing contracts · Assist with other diocesan work as needed for the good of the whole *Key characteristics and strengths: * · Highly organized and detail oriented; values timeliness and works with schedules as well as pastoral emergencies · Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team and has excellent written and oral communication skills · Creative problem solver and demonstrated project management skills · Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities and duties · Ability to think strategically and identify ways to improve communication efforts · Experience and skills in the use of Microsoft Office, email marketing (Constant Contact or equivalent), and visual communication preparation (e.
g.
Canva or equivalent) · Experience in website design and maintenance, and understanding of basic backend website management (Wordpress, esp.
) · Possesses healthy boundaries with respect to conflict management, reconciliation, confidentiality · Creative and innovative problem solver with non-anxious presence and ability to address conflict actively and directly rather than passively and indirectly.
· Capacity to collaborate on a team as well as work independently under own initiative.
· Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices *Salary range: $48,000 - $52,000 based on experience, with pension, single coverage medical and generous vacation/flex time policy* *Position open until filled.
