Summary Under the supervision of the Marketing and Communications Director, the Communications and Events Specialist provides leadership and support to the organization by managing the direction and tone of its communications, appeals, campaigns, and fundraising events.
They support the success of all programs at Habitat-Spokane by providing project management and coordination for all fundraising and awareness events.
The Communication and Events specialist ensures that all fundraising event and engagement needs at our organization are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Event Coordination and Management Assist the Marketing and Communications Director in planning, coordinating, executing, and implementing all Habitat-Spokane’s events, both large and small, to meet revenue goals.
Project manage and facilitate the annual fundraising luncheon and signature fundraising events, including logistics, registrations, securing event spaces, speakers, organizing supplies, managing external vendor relationships, coaching peer-to-peer fundraisers, setting up and tearing down events, coordinating meals and gifts for special events, and acting as the lead point of contact for all events.
Ensure post-event evaluation, thank you notes, and reporting process.
Assist in preparing and sticking to budgets, revenue goals, solicitations, preparing MOUs, contracts, and bidding process.
Act as event liaison between the organization and vendors, donors, participants, etc.
Assist in developing concepts and designs, and coordinate mailings of promotional materials and invitations, and logistical planning.
Support coordination of social media platform marketing to include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and website content.
Work with and provide guidance to volunteers and staff involved in event planning and execution.
Negotiate and contract with vendors for a variety of goods and services related to special event planning.
Monitor delivery of goods and services to ensure contract terms are satisfied.
Develop and maintain an extensive network of contacts, both internal and external, to facilitate event coordination.
Oversee and provide technical support for online fundraising platforms including peer-to-peer fundraising.
Advertising, Campaigns, Appeals & Direct Mail.
Support the Marketing and Communications Director in the execution of fundraising strategies for annual solicitations, campaigns, and appeals.
Provide collaborative support to all department staff to develop strategies, and benchmarks and meet revenue goals.
Provide support to multiple individual giving appeals throughout the year, creating timelines, and assisting to create compelling material to ensure successful direct mail and digital fundraising results are achieved.
Aid the Development Department in donor stewardship activities including acknowledgment letters, sponsorship and advertisement opportunities, and creative recognition to acquire and grow giving.
Prepare bids, contracts, printing and mailing timelines, content, and technical assistance to the Marketing and Communications Director in addition to the Development Department.
Generate reports on campaigns, appeals, and other fundraising activities to measure progress; have the ability to adapt and pivot to meet goals.
Provide support to all departments in their marketing and advertising needs.
Assist Communications and Marketing Director in obtaining bids, schedules, budgets, and contracts for advertising and marketing needs.
Attends Habitat-Spokane events.
Represents Habitat-Spokane during community projects and at public, social, and business gatherings.
Promotes the Mission of Habitat-Spokane.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree in marketing, PR, or other work equivalent experience.
2-3 years of experience fundraising, special events, campaign, and appeal planning.
Excellent writing and speaking skills.
Creative graphic design skills.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
Adobe CS6 or newer version (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.
), Raisers Edge and WordPress.
Video production and editing experience or desire to learn it.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have experience using the following software at a proficient level: Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Experience in Raiser’s Edge, Volunteer Management Software such as Volunteer Hub.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current driver's license.
